Olive Branch

Carrilyn has taught my future bariatric surgery candidate the art of enjoying his food. He puts pitted olives on each of his fingers, growls and then eats them. cute some might say...just plain creepy to me. Last weekend we decided we had enough of the never able to go out because no babysitter thing - so we took our kids to the drive in. We figured that they would fall asleep, stay asleep and we could enjoy each other's company for the two movies (Mummy and Hulk). right. We spent the first half an hour keeping the volume (and rockin) down to keep them asleep. Then we spent the next four hours with a wide awake but pleasant child on each of our laps. Couple good things happened out of it....no one got pregnant, we got in free and Ivan learned one MEAN hulk impression. The other pic is how my son spends a quarter of his day - chasing his best friend around and being a puppy. too bad for Koda that ivan is a mean puppy. thats all for tonight - its 8 and its 3 hours past my bedtime. oh yeah some other stuff...what is it that makes a 300lb man put blonde highlights in his fluffy curly locks? i recently discovered that there truly is no good reason as my hair finally got long enough that as i briskly walked the hospital corridor i could feel my hair bouncing like some tre semme commercial. two wrongs make a right so i bought some hair die last night (with triple shine) and turned my 'he's really too big to be a surfer .... and doesnt he live in minnesota?...' blonde hair back to its natural color. Just as i stripped down and applied all the gooo to my scalp i hear my dad coming down the hall "You feeling strong son?!!?" he said before he got to the bathroom. Turns out the neighbor needed help moving a ginormous outboard motor. He turns the color as i stood in my boxers rubbing my hair with color - - - you can only imagine the disappointment he felt when we had to wait to do manly testosterone bonding things until i finished dyeing my hair. My father now has four daughters. Well....Andrew did hang up on me to go eat dinner on time....he's next. Daddy never wanted all daughters.

Too funny. We did the drive ins too last week (but picked better movies: Batman). Batman will probably hit MN in late August or so.
Where are the pictures of your hair?

Sorry I missed seeing the blonde hair (why didn't you keep it -- I thought that was an Olympic tradition). And I think Adam is the only brother who has NOT dyed his hair. Hmmmm. . .
My recent favorite Ivan story: Ivan took swimming lessons and learned to put his face in the water and blow bubbles. While I am visiting (note: not babysitting), Ivan sees the perfect opportunity to practice this. Yes, the dog's water dish is a perfect place. And how could you be mad at him when he was SO proud of himself and just doing what he was taught. It was a crackup to see the perfect circle of wetness on his shirt and bangs and the HUGE grin on his face. He is much cuter than his pictures show.

Jus try and keep him away. ha ha. No, no bitterness -- I just meant a) Adam needs to dye his hair to belong to the club (what color should he choose?!) and b)the not babysitting comment so I would not be blamed for letting the kid play in the dog's water :)
