Exit Glacier

yeah...dont get confused when looking for the exit for Exit Glacier...when you roll Alaska with a rental Kia sedan you get freaked out when you drive by signs like the one we saw on the way to the glacier. There are many faces to a glacier. This is one that you see on the inland side. to get to the glacier you drive up a long windy road alongside a beautiful river of glacier runoff. once you get up to the park you start seeing signs with dates on them. 1920. 1925, etc. these signs mark the level of the glacier at that period in time. the parking lot keeps getting further and further away from the glacier. The walk there is kind of eerie in that the area is completely crushed of any vegetation. Its a desolate rock valley smothered by the glacier. I have always had the vision of pristine glaciers, pure and untouched by man, the most beautiful blue etc. If you want to see that you have to see the side that is dumping into the ocean. This side was dirty and covered with silt but nonetheless a cool moment. Ivan loved running through the valley. I tucked him under my arm like a football and ran over the rocks. He got so excited that i had to finish the walk with the fireman carry to calm him down a notch.

That sign should be the theme for Andrew's life ;)
Love the photos.
